Katrina Goetjen (she/they) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist, photographer and arts-practitioner. Goetjen was born and raised on Treaty 7 Territory, the ancestral lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, and the Otipemisiwak Métis Government (Alberta District 6). They received a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (2019) majoring in Critical + Cultural Practices, and a Canada Council for the Arts Research + Create Grant (2023). Their gallery management work at Artspeak and Or Gallery instigated their passion for accessibility and inclusion in the arts.
Chelsea Yuill (she/her) is the Assistant Curator at Capture Photography Festival, where she coordinates the annual catalogue, featured exhibition, and public art projects ranging from billboards and transit stations to building façades. Curatorial highlights are 88 Artists from 88 Years (2017); Intertwined (2018) both at Emily Carr University of Art + Design; EAT YOUR TAIL, Access Gallery (2020); and Here and Now, Pendulum Gallery (2023). Yuill received a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (2019) and attended the Momus Emerging Critics Residency (2021).
Jessica Marie Fletcher (she/her) is currently Exhibitions and Collections Assistant at the University of British Columbia’s Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery and Archives Digitization Assistant at grunt gallery. She received a BA in Art History from UBC and a Professional Specialization Certificate in Collections Management from the University of Victoria. Recent work includes prep and installation of the Belkin’s exhibitions Carole Itter: Only when I’m hauling water do I wonder if I’m getting any stronger and Aporia (Notes to a Medium) and assisting in the development of a new CollectiveAccess archival database at grunt gallery.

Emerge is a series of talks, workshops and behind-the-scenes tours with an emphasis on professional development, that introduces visual art and art history students to the Vancouver art scene. The themes for the 2023-24 academic year are art, community, and social change. Emerge is developed and organized by the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, the Art History Students’ Association, the Visual Art Students’ Association and the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory at UBC.
