Daniel Richter (German, b. 1962) is an artist known for large-scale oil paintings. Richter studied at Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste Hamburg and has taught at the Universitat der Kunste, Berlin and the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, Vienna. Richter’s figurative paintings have renewed the discussion about the importance of painting in our contemporary world. Based on various sources including newspaper clippings, film stills and comic images, Richter’s paintings are about recent history and the conditions of society today.
